THE FORCE OF FAITH - Pastor David Oyedepo Jnr.
By salvation through Christ, we
are made new (2Corinthians 5.17). However, without faith, it is impossible to
access our new dawn heritage. In Luke 1.45 we are told ‘And blessed is she that believed; for there shall be a performance of
those things which were told her from the Lord’. Mark 9.23 likewise states
that ‘all things are possible to him that
believes’. This means it is the individual who continually operates in
faith that will continue changing levels.
However, in the last days, faith
shall be under siege (Luke 18.38) so it is important we know how to build up
our faith so we can secure our heritage.
Why is faith so important to
accessing the new dawn era?
- It takes faith to actualize our new dawn heritage in redemption. Proverbs 4.18 says
the path of the just is to be as a shining light that shines more and more unto
the perfect day – ours is a heritage of continuous new dawns. But for that to
be our experience, we must operate by faith; Romans 1.17, Hebrews 10.28, Galatians
3.11, Habakkuk 2.4 all decree that the just shall live by faith.
- It
is to you according to your faith; It’s faith that dictates your outcome not
situations. In Matthew 9.27-29, Jesus told the blind men that it would be to
them according to their faith. No matter what you face, when faith is in place
in the heart of a believer, the situations will be turned to testimonies. Hebrew
11.33-34 tells of the exploits the disciples overcame by faith.
- Faith
activates the new dawn virtues in the Word. Hebrews 4.2 shows that if you don’t
mix the Word with faith, it yields no works.
- It takes faith to enforce your desired change. In 1Corinthians 16.9, a new door (dawn) is opened, but there are many adversaries, and it is faith that clears the way. Ephesians 6.12-16 admonishes to take the shield of faith ‘above all’ the weapons listed because it is our defence from every attack of the devil. In Deuteronomy 2.24 God told the Israelites to arise and take the land because He had given their enemies into their hand. 1 Timothy 6.12 admonishes that ‘we fight the good fight of faith’.
What are characteristics of
faith which will move you into the new dawn?
- It
sees the invisible, and takes realities from revelations. Hebrews 11.27 tells
us Moses endured by seeing Him who is invisible. In Hebrews 11.3 by faith we
understand the world was framed by the Word – this invisible force of the Word
is what provokes the visible results of the believer, and this force is seen by
the eyes of faith. These revelations are of the Spirit (1Corinthians 2.9-14)
therefore seeing the invisible lets you command the impossible.
- It
thinks the unthinkable. Proverbs 23.7 ‘As
a man thinketh in his heart, so is he’, meaning if you can think it, you can
receive it. God told Abraham his seed would become a nation, and in Romans
4.17-19 we see that he held fast to God’s word. Although his body was dead, he
saw his child with the eyes of faith. And God is able to do exceeding
abundantly above all that we can ask or think, according to His power that
works in us (Ephesians 3.20). Isaiah 54.1-2 tells us to prepare for what we are
looking for. Our minds must take what we are looking to receive in hand, so act on your expectation.
- It speaks the unspeakable. Psalm 81.10 says ‘open your mouth wide and I will fill it’. Acts 14.3 shows that God will always give testimony to what you boldly declare, for ‘you shalt decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee’ (Job 22.28). Where you need to, change your speech.
Faith is what allows God to be
connected to you. The power is with God, but the faith must be with us to
receive it (1Corinthians 2.5 – ‘your
faith should not rest in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God’).
ACTIVATING YOUR FAITH FOR
NEW-DAWN EXPERIENCES
- Diligently
load and receive the Word. ‘Faith comes
by hearing, and hearing by the Word’ -Romans 10.17. If you don’t tire of
loading in the Word, your faith will continue to grow.
- Genuinely
believe the Word. Luke 1.45 – ‘there
shall be a performance of things to those who believe’. Don’t assume,
genuinely believe what God says. Hebrews 4.2.
- Committedly
declare the Word. The centurion in Matthew 8.8 said ‘speak the word only, and my servant shall be made whole’.
- Dedicatedly obey the Word, because faith without works is dead (James 2.26).
Remember, you don’t wish to
develop great faith, you build it so take responsibility.
