THE FORCE OF DIVINE GUIDANCE - Bishop Thomas Aremu
Read: Psalm 23.1-6.
The baseline
for lack & want in life is an absence of divine guidance. Of a certainty,
we want for nothing if God is our Shepherd simply because He is the creator of
all things material. Divine guidance is allowing God to have the final say in
the running of your life and destiny. – the whats, the wheres and the hows at
every step.
‘Thou hast heard, see all this; and will not
ye declare it? I have shewed thee new things from this time, even hidden
things, and thou didst not know them’ - Isaiah 48.6.
God has new things
planned for believers, but these are hidden, and are unfolded by His guidance. The
path God leads along is where your blessings will unfold.
We are designed
to be wonderful, and will be if we stay in the centre of His will. Isaiah
30.1-3 speaks of the effects of the Israelites acting on their own wisdom; the
men to whom they looked for help would ultimately disappoint them, with both
helper and the ‘helped’ failing. Proverbs 16.25 will not be our case. Trial and
errors will not be our case because we seek God’s guidance first. Never forget,
His plan and purpose for everyone is peculiar- you are not destined to copy
anyone else, not even their successes. The blueprint for your life is in the
hands of the Creator, and He will unfold it to you in phases. Do not labour to
achieve what others have, and don’t trust in man to progress (Isaiah 31.1-3). If
you desire a thing, take it and present it to God, and when He blesses you, utilize
it according to His dictates, not your inclination.
Divine guidance
makes you lead a hurt-free life - Psalm 23.4. The shepherd will keep you safe
wherever He leads - if God is leading, no (appearance of) risk will stop you
irrespective of how it may seem as foolishness. Also, what He tells you to do,
respond immediately as delays provide a window for the devil to cause problems.
‘Goodness and mercy shall follow you all
the days of your life’ (verse 6 of Psalm 23) when ‘The Lord is your Shepherd’ (verse 1). You cannot claim one without connecting
to the other. Only those guided by Him shall have the right to access (Deuteronomy
32.9-14).
As believers, we are custom built for divine guidance, for it is not in us to direct our steps (Jeremiah
10.23). Isaiah 46.3-4 shows us that God guides us from when we know absolutely
nothing, so we have NO need to ‘try out’ things on our own. Guidance is God
carrying, bearing, delivering us and giving us what is our destiny.
What then is
the relevance of divine guidance to our New Dawn reality?
- It shows you what to do, where to go and how to
achieve it. When your location is right, your allocation is constant. Struggle
and failure can signify you’re not where you should be. Seek of the Lord on
what to do, if there should be any corrections, and give Him the right-of-way
to lead you. Be meek (Psalm 25.9). Be teachable and amenable if you want to
enjoy God (James 4.7-10).
- When He leads, He will go before you. (John
10.4-5).
- He goes with you, and so everything will work (Mark 16.20, Phillipians 2.13, 1Thessalonians 5.24). When God is doing it, it’s already done. John 5.30. Even the best of your effort still needs His sign-off. (Joel 2.11).
Prayer: Father, I accept You anew as my Shepherd. My all is in Your hand. I
give you the right of access to take the lead and order my steps to what You
have ordained for me.
